ELC- Kevin’s biography

I started hunting at the age of 6 with my dad, brothers, and other family members. At age 6 it was just bb or pellet guns or a 22 rifle and a lot of practice shooting at targets, sparrows, and blackbirds. Then at the age of 10 I proved I was ready to start pursuing whitetail deer, and I was lucky enough to harvest my first whitetail deer at age 10. I’ve been hooked on pursuing Whitetail ever since. In my high school years I competed in some sports, but my real love was the outdoors, fishing, hunting and trapping. My competitive spirt was lifted to new heights when I trained a couple coon dogs for competition hunts and even qualified for a world hunt. My competitive nature lead me to sign up to compete in the Illinois pro-am bass tournaments in 1990. This is where I learned how to read terrain features on maps.

I ordered maps to every lake or river that I had a tournament on. My map reading skills quickly developed to find ledges , points, brush piles, old roadbeds etc. By studying maps and knowing what areas the bigger bass and groups of bass would be, the first year I competed as an amateur, I finished 1st out of 198 competitors. In 1990 my wife and I bought 3 bucks fawns, so I could study and do research which I did for about 1 decade. The knowledge I gained about understanding a whitetail buck from my captive deer herd research and testing, helped increase my understanding of a whitetail bucks by 10 times. That 10 years as I studied my captive deer, I saw my hunting skills and success improve greatly. My hunting accomplishments to me is more about the fact that I have harvested 5 bucks that are 7.5 years old or older. My best 36 Whitetails bucks average 154” and several of them are 5.5 and 6.5 years old. To me the antlers size is not something I can control that much, but matching wits with mature whitetails is a game I like to play now that I figured out how to win more often.

At the same time I was raising the 3 captive bucks, I also started doing small test plots of all types of varieties of seeds and plants. Over the next 10 years, I tested what deer ate in the wild, and I hand picked and fed the captive bucks several varieties. This gave me first hand knowledge of what deer prefer all through the year. I have spent almost 4 decades now testing thousands of soil samples and studying soil nutrition. I have done over 4,000 plant tissues samples to evaluate why deer feed on certain plants and what nutritional value the deer gain from each plant. After 3 decades of research, I became president and co-owner of a seed and mineral company which I ran for 10 + years. I since then have sold my part of this company off, so I could put more time and effort back into testing and finding the answers to the ( WHY’s) in the whitetail world. I have been offering my Elite Land Consulting advice to help map out the direction to build Elite whitetail hunting properties for about 20 + years. I try to only take about 20-30 clients per year because the work I put in to a property and an elite consulting packet for a client takes a lot more than most consultants will do or even know how to do.

Clients Love Us!

We provide an Elite whitetail land consulting advice that builds the best whitetail paradise. What sets us apart from all this rest of the consultants is our results based on our knowledge. We don’t take 50- 80 clients a year , we only take about 20-30 clients a year, and they get our full time and a Elite plan and treatment.
